CALIFORNIA STEEPLECHASE ASSOCIATION

RULES OF COMPETITION

  1. White diamond is on your left and red is on your right. Any fence jumped   incorrectly or refused will incur a 20-second penalty for each occurrence. Third refusal or fall by horse or rider, or going off course, will result in disqualification, but the rider may finish the course. Please acknowledge all caution and hazard warnings marked on Event Map and on the course.

  1. ATTIRE: Hard hats with safety harnesses and boots required. Protective vests are encouraged.

  1. The Race-Day Steward has the right at any time to inspect the condition of horses and riders as well as all tack and equipment. Based on such inspection, the Steward may disqualify a horse or a rider, or require an equipment change.  Any disputes will be decided by the Steward: the StewardÍs decision in all cases is subject only to CSA procedural review.

  1. Any horse may compete. All horses must be certified (i.e., one which has been hunted, including cubbing, with a recognized hunt, at least three times in the 2006-2007 season) to be eligible for high point year-end awards. Ribbons will be awarded to all placing participants.

  1. Placing is decided by time closest to optimum time, either over or under, set stated pace.

  1. Courses may not be measured by competitors.

  1. ENTRIES: MUST BE POSTMARKED no later than Friday, April, 4, 2008 and mail to Ruth Wheeler, 2031 Charleen Circle, Carlsbad, CA 92008. If later than April 4 call Ruth at 760-729-5577.

You may enter any class more than once, so long as you ride on a different horse and (in team classes) with a different partner. Each entry is eligible for ribbons and the dayÍs awards. Only a riderÍs highest finish in any one class will count toward the High-Point trophies.
